Whats the difference between dyneema and sewn slings.?

Question: What are the differences between a dyneema sling and a sewn sling, which is better and for what reasons ?

Answer: Dyneema is the material used to make slings and cords. A sewn sling is just some webbing that is made into a loop with the two ends sewn together. A dyneema sling is most likely referring to a sewn sling made of dyneema material which is much stronger than the nylon typically used for slings. Spectra is actually the strongest material used to make sewn slings. Dyneema and perlon are two other materials that are stronger than nylon, but not as strong as spectra. All are good, but have lower melting points than nylon therefore not recommended for use in friction knots (usually better to use cords anyway) . I prefer using spectra since it is stronger and lighter than other materials. Climb on!
